Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Gregory Marcellin earned his Bachelor of Science at Boston University and his Master of Science in Nursing from Simmons College in Boston, MA. He is an AANP-board certified Family Nurse Practitioner and an ANCC- board certified Family Psychiatric- Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. During his time in Simmons College, he was a member of the Nurse Corps Scholarship program, committing himself to providing primary care service in high-need, critical shortage areas of the country. Upon the completion of his Family Nurse Practitioner program in 2015, he was a primary care provider serving rural Connecticut and afterwards, a primary care provider in Boston’s South End. Working in both rural and urban settings, he has developed a significant base of knowledge and information about the medical and psychiatric needs of his patient population. After three years of primary care work, he served as a lead urgent care provider, addressing the urgent and emergent needs of his community in North Shore Massachusetts and the New Hampshire Seacoast.
Working through the pandemic in the urgent care setting, he was in the front lines of COVID-19; diagnosing, treating, and educating his patients about the pandemic and its impact. As a lead nurse practitioner during the pandemic times of isolation, quarantine, and minimal social events, he observed and treated the immediate, short-term impacts of COVID-19 and grew an interest in understanding the long-term mental health impacts of the pandemic, especially among marginalized groups of people. To further develop an understanding of mental health throughout the lifespan, he attained his Psychiatric-Mental Health certification from the University of New Hampshire. He aspires to use his medical and psychiatric knowledge to address the needs of the whole person, ensuring a collaboration that the client finds meaningful and trustworthy.
Gregory’s goal has always been geared towards establishing an environment centered on trust and meaning. With his years of direct primary care and urgent care experience, he understands the importance of patient collaboration and developing meaningful relationships focusing on improving one’s physical and mental health. Further specializing in psychiatric care, Gregory’s goal remains the same with the focus on optimizing one’s mental health through meaningful and therapeutic relationships with the patient.
Gregory’s main interests include health care equity, psychiatric and family medical care across the lifespan, and medical and nursing research pertaining to adverse childhood events and how it pertains to the patient’s mental and physical well-being across the lifespan.
